Amazon Picks Up Bryan Cranston's 'Sneaky Pete' Pilot!

Via hollywoodreporter.com : Amazon has officially thrown Sneaky Pete a lifeline.The streaming service announced Wednesday that it would debut the pilot for the Bryan Cranston co-created and co-executive produced show, which CBS passed on. Starting Aug. 7, Amazon users can watch the Sneaky Pete pilot and, in keeping with Amazon Studios' pilot process, vote on whether they want to see the show turned into a full series. Sony Pictures Television produced the Sneaky Pete pilot for CBS, which decided not to move forward with the series about a 30-something con man who assumes the identity of his cellmate, Pete, after leaving prison, hiding from his debtors while working for his new family's bail bond business. Giovanni Ribisi stars as the con man, with Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Peter Gerety, Libe Barer and Shane McRae co-starring. Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon directed the pilot, which was written by David Shore. On Aug. 7, Amazon will also debut the pilot for Casanova, the true story of Giacomo Casanova, the 18th century's most controversial playboy. Amelie helmer Jean Pierre Jeunet directed Casanova, his first TV project. The pilot, shot on-location in three European countries, stars Diego Luna (as Casanova), Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson and Ben Daniels. The show was written by The Americans' Stuart Zicherman and executive produced by Jeunet, Zicherman and Electus' Ben Silverman. "We're delighted to bring one of history's most fascinating periods to life in Casanova and a world-class performance by Giovanni Ribisi in Sneaky Pete," Amazon Studios vice president Roy Price said in a statement. "Our customers have provided valuable feedback on our shows and have helped make them some of the most critically acclaimed series. Casanova and Sneaky Pete could be among those shows, and I look forward to seeing our customer feedback." Both pilots will be available on Amazon Instant Video in the U.S., U.K. and Germany, with viewers able to vote on whether they want the show to become a series for Prime members.
