In this exclusive interview with Breaking Bad Greece, David Jaxx Nagro (Dolly Grip since season 3 on AMC's Breaking Bad) talks about his role on the crew of the show, if he will miss any part of New Mexico when the filming wraps up and much more! Hit the jump below to read more!
Q : Which is your role on the crew of Breaking Bad?
A : I am the "A" Camera Dolly Grip. Basically I work with Andy Voegili, the "A" Camera Operator, to move the camera when it is required. The Director for each episode, and our Director of Photography, Michael Slovis, design the shots and we make it happen. Sometimes we are on dollies, racing along dolly track. Other times on we are on cranes or ATV's. It is a great job. It really gets you into the action of each scene as you move along with the characters.
Q : How long do you work on each episode?
A : Each episode is shot over 8 days. Occasionally we do a 10 day episode if it is required. This cast and crew from top to bottom is a real dream to work with. Honestly, the funnest show I've ever worked on.
Q : Is there any part of New Mexico that you will miss when filming wraps up?
A : Not really. That's because I'm from New Mexico. I grew up in Corrales, just North of Albuquerque, and now own a home in Taylor Ranch. I love New Mexico and have no plans to leave.
Q : Throughout the series, what has been the most difficult episode for you to work on?
A : I work with the dollies and am constantly leveling track or dance floor for the Chapman Hustler IV to glide across. So really the White's driveway is my curse. So steep.
Q : If you could have played any character on Breaking Bad, who would it be, and why?
A : One of the Cousins. Either one. So cold, so mean. What great guys. When we shot the hay wagon exploding behind them. Not a flinch. True villians, they were so awesome. In real life, super nice guys, and still a little scary.
